Great question.... Here is the deal with clothing... all the proceeds from the clothing help to offset the overall costs of the events... We will need to pay up front for all events by the 5th of August.. We feel confident that we will in the end break even for all costs, however anything that anyone buys early, just goes to help, so we will need to put up less of our own money in advance..  We have the following still available..  Payne Stewart type caps, "Got Woody" girls tanks, "Woody" visors, "No 50" visors, and special Mike Morgan Memorial.. hang ten embroidered feet (on front) and "Remembered" Shadow Surfer (on back) T-shirts....  We expect to have plenty left for sale at Golf, Beach, and Beachcomber...  Also by the time the events come around we expect to have ball caps with "No 50" and Shadow surfer... as well as a few... "Old Bruins never die.... Cuz they always have a Woody" in a silk aloha shirt style...  Embroidered 49 and holding golf shirts in both men's and women's style are complimentary for every golfer... we may have some left over for purchase as well...

What a blast! I reluctantly agreed to play golf but what a fun tournament! I had a great time at this whole 49 and holding weekend. If you've been reading about these events and didn't show...? YOU REEEEAAALLY missed it. If you did come to any of these partys, I hope you had a great time like I did. I want to shout out a speacial thank you to Clay for pushing this idea and for Mike Benavidez and his whole family for all of their hard work! If you were one of the people that were not able to find us at Bolsa Chica, I'm sorry if you did not notice the map on the Beach Location Info page. Couldn't make it to the golf day because of work, but went to the beach and the beachcomber and had a great time. I think the reunion committe did a fabulous job planning and arranging it. Thanks for all your dedication and hard work. Doing something this year as we did last year would be great. Thanks!

Sad News: I read in the paper yesterday, that Mr. Jordon passed away. I am not sure when his services are. Check the LB Press Telegram. RIP Mr. Jordon.

Just got back from a weekend in L.B.... Great time watching the Bruins beat the Lancers at Blair on Friday night... Those that went, know what a great game we got... Anyway, the plans are finalized for 49 and holding 2010... You can see the details on the current events page.  Those of you that are big on Facebook and Classmates... please help me out by spreading the word!!!.  The reason that there is no charge this year, is that we have guaranteed a minimum bar sales..(Should not be a problem hitting the minimum based on last year....) but we do need a big turn out... If you went last year, please support us by going again this year...(This time it's all free)... If you missed it last year or you sort of thought it would probably be weak... Please give it a try this year!

Great to hear from you Duane... plus I hope you plan to join the band again on a few songs...  As a side point it would be great if others would let me know if you are planning to join us as well... Since there is no cost this year, it is a little harder to get a firm grasp on the numbers... I think we need about 200 to show up to insure we will hit our guarantee in bar sales...So I will start a "Roll Call" page again as I start hearing from everyone...  One more question... we have already been getting some inquiries about: Why no golf?  Do you want to play again?  Let us know, how many want to do something small again at Little Rec on Friday the 24th.... and we will see if there is enough real interest to do it again on short notice.

Great to hear from so many of you, so quickly...  I keep hearing "What can I do to help?"...  To be honest the main thing we need is to get the word out.  My e-mail addresses have been coming back undeliverable, etc. etc.  So please just talk this up... (Facebook folks...start a group for me!!!)

I think we need to try to get 200 people to show up.  Remember this is open to anybody, so please tell everyone you know about it and have them plan to be there.  It is absolutely free this year, but we have guaranteed the restaurant a minimum bar sales... So help us out by getting the gang to show up!!!  Check the roll call page... if your name is not on it, or you know for sure someone is coming that is not on it... drop me a line.

This is really sad news…. I know that Mr. Mertz was really loved by many.  Jack contacted Beno and I about a 6 months ago and told us how much he enjoyed the website.
We sent him an embroidered Woody shirt not too long ago…  It is sort of ironic, I emailed Jack about a week ago to personally invite him back to California in September
to join us for 49 and Holding… I knew that the travel was probably going to be difficult for him so I really didn’t expect him to come… but I was sort of surprised that I didn’t
get a reply from him to the e-mail…. I guess now I know why… Truly sad..

I no longer have a school annual.  I would like to start a page dedicated to some of the teachers that we all remember and appreciated.  Perhaps someone could take the time to
scan some of the teacher's photos or better yet if you have something more recent…we can sort of get the ball rolling on this..

Hi Clay, I love the idea of a favorite teachers' page. There have been some really nice tributes to Jack on his Facebook page that we could probably capture. I have all my yearbooks but they're all packed right now. Let me see if I can unearth them and get some photos scanned of Mr. Mertz, Senor Anderson, and some of the others. Suggestions welcomed!

I think you have a great idea and anything I can do...so far away...please let me know.  I can tell you that this website is not getting the hits it did a couple of years ago.  People do stop by, but just to double check the time of the next event, etc.  I am not on facebook, but many of the active classmates are.  I suggest that you put up a similar post on:

Last summers party at the Beachcomber was really fun-except me and my best friend Carol got a little too tipsy. It was great seeing everyone, even if we couldn't quite remember their names! The band was great, all good songs! We hope to go to this Septembers get together. So many memories come back!

Great to hear from you Lisa!  I do hope that both you and Carol come back this year.  I've added you both to the roll call page.... I wouldn't be too concerned about remembering names... Tamara Vardo has done such a good job at getting the word out this year...  I look at the roll call page and I only recognize about half the names myself.

By now most of you know about the situation with Brian Hall.  If you take a look at his page on the site you will see that there is a benefit golf tournament planned for him in the Austin Texas area next month... If you can participate, that would be great.. If not, here is another idea for you.  Some of us that can not attend have decided to pay the green fees for a local high school student to play as our proxy.  If you are interested in doing this as well contact Lisa or Russ Young   lyoung@austin.rr.com to find out how.  I believe they are asking the local high school golf teams to participate..you can send in the entry fee and have one of the kids play for you... If we can get enough people to do this, I was thinking I would make a trophy up to present to high school student that participated on the lowest scoring team as a special Proxy player winner's trophy..  So far we have 2 proxy players... It would be great if we could sponsor the whole high school golf team.
